① Describe your introduction to music.
——————————————
When I was a student, a friend of mine recommended that I check out Elephant Man, Sean Paul, T.O.K. and other artists who really shocked me. Further research into music led me to discover a video of Yokohama Reggae Festival, which is organized by Mighty Crown. This video was also very impactful on my creative practice. I was completely hooked on reggae and then i began to explore various club music styles. When I was 18, I bought a turntable and started playing Selector/MC. I started making tracks around the age of 20. By the time I was 22, I was doing vocal RECs with my friends. It was around this time when I released my first CD, so I guess more than 10 years have passed now since then.

② What is the 'Pharaoh's Curse'?
——————————————
You were wondering about the "Pharaoh's Curse" lol.
The pharaoh's curse refers to a myth which originated from an incident involving the mysterious, consecutive deaths of individuals previously involved in an excavation of a mummy from an ancient Egyptian pyramid. Was the tape deck that Ryan was going to use at first also excavated from the Egyptian pyramids? LOL!

③ Which artists inspire you the most and who do you affiliate with?
——————————————
Audio Active, Mighty Crown, Brain Damage, Mad Professor.. I think they're the ones who influenced me the most but local artists have influenced me even more. 444capsule, HADAKAEFUDA, Numb'n'Dub.. I think I got where I am today through friendly competition with them.

④ What inspired this mix?
——————————————
Before we realize, it will be commonplace to listen to music by downloading or streaming.
However, material things which can be touched are fun to look at and a joy to collect.
In addition, cassette tapes have a certain warmth in their sound. I have always wanted to make a cassette tape and thought that if I was going to make one, it would be a mixtape with no breaks in the sound, which I was also into at the time.

⑤ What do you enjoy about the art in your local area?
——————————————
The area where I live, Kitakagaya in Suminoe Ward, Osaka City, has been transformed in recent years to become known as an art district.
Wall art, objects, galleries and ateliers are increasing rapidly. There are also more and more clubs, cafes, and bars. I feel that the whole town is very active. There have been several problems in Suminoe Ward before, such as suicide, discrimination, and economic disparity. I think one of the characteristics of art in my hometown is that there are many expressions born from such backgrounds.

⑥ What are your performance ideals?
——————————————
It is the ultimate trip music. I feel like I'm floating, I feel like I'm going down the rapids. Exciting, calming, soothing.. It's fun, it's happy, it's joyful. A world where all living things are born happy and die happy. That is my ideal world, and my ideal performance is to help it happen.

⑦ Do you have specific intentions with regard to travel?
——————————————
Unfortunately, I have no plans to travel abroad yet but I really want to go. I also want to do a live tour. I'll go anywhere if you invite me.

⑧ What do yoy enjoy most about performing as well as creating in general?
——————————————
I appreciate the sense of accomplishment felt after completing a piece of work along with the joy of being appreciated but I also love the moment when I am immersed in the work.. When I forget everything and concentrate on the work, the work starts to change it's shape. When I touch or talk to the work as if I were having a dialogue with it, it expands and contracts in response. The finished work is always a projection of some aspect of myself. I think it's interesting and valuable because it's not perfect, but distorted.

⑨ Name a strange performance style which you find intriguing.
——————————————
Lately, thanks to Ryan, I've been wondering about the use of cassette tapes.
For example, I modified a SONY CCP-1310F dubbing machine to do real-time sampling and tape echo.
I feel like I could use the unique sound of cassette tapes in my live performances soon.

⑩ Is there particular highlight of your creative journey which has been special for you?——————
I think I did a live performance at a festival called AOTSUKASAI.
It was a relatively large stage, so I enjoyed the sense of freedom.

⑪ How do you feel about your experience with Selector Source?
——————————————
Ryan's video messages are great.
I'm going to miss that, so please keep it coming!

Thank you, Keishiroh. - SS
